Families of Model Town massacre and PAT workers will gather on The Mall Road on August 16: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Addressing a heavily attended press conference in the afternoon of Friday, August 11, PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that daughters, sisters, widows and family members of the martyrs of the Model Town tragedy will sit on The Mall Road on August 16 with a plea of justice for the honorable Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court. He said that he will visit them in order to express solidarity with them. He said that it has been two and half years since we have been going from pillar to post to get Justice Najfi Commission report public.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it is our humble request to the honorable Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court with all due respect that he sets up a neutral bench of the court in the first week after Eid-ul-Azha that takes up our petition for making the report public. He said that if the report of the Panama JIT can be released and the Supreme Court can give its verdict on it, why cannot the report of the Judicial Commission that was set up to probe the Model Town massacre made public?

The family members of the martyrs of Model Town were also present on the presser. They requested Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri that if the justice has to be delivered on the roads, then they should be allowed to protest. Bisma, the daughter of Shaheed Tanzila Amjad, spoke to the PAT Chairman and said that we will continue to struggle for justice with him till the last moment of our life but why is that it has been three years and no step has been taken towards administration of justice?

Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Fayyaz Warraich, Basharat Jaspal and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that it is important that Justice Baqir Najfi Commission report is made public so that it gets known as to who has been held responsible for the Model Town massacre. He said that we have our apprehensions with the report being tampered but for the time being our demand is about its release, adding that once it is public, we will request the honorable judge who wrote the report to endorse its contents. He said that we are requesting for constitution of a neutral bench. We are not saying that the bench should be of our will but at the same it should not be set up at the behest of the perpetrators of the Model Town incident.

The PAT Chairman said that the grief stricken parents and children of the martyrs are looking towards the honorable Chief Justice. Answering different questions of the journalists, he said that we are requesting the Chief Justice because we have no hope from the killers who crush the people and usurp their rights. He said that the boy who got run over by a speeding BMW of the motorcade of the former PM was from among the masses, so he was crushed to death and no one stopped to see what has happened. He said that an innocent life was lost to a drama enacted by the disqualified prime minister.

Dr Qadri said that Nawaz Sharif has met his political end and in his extreme frustration, he is indulging in the act to abuse his opponents. He said that those who have been leveling allegations against others have proven to be Iqama holders, stating that Iqama is a kind of passport. He said that the masses are being instigated to rise up against national institutions. He said that the system that supported, promoted and fostered Nawaz Sharif for 35 years is being criticized. He said that this is the first decision against them in 35 years and their cries know no bounds. He said that the NAB is also manned by their loyalists and the apex court will get insults from there too. He said that we would move forward with a clear strategy for getting Justice Najfi Commission report released and justice in the Model Town case.
